Asian Engagements
At the cessation of hostilities, the Corps was serving throughout Australia, the South West Pacific Theatre,
with some members serving in Europe and North America. With the Axis forces defeated the Army quickly reverted
to its peacetime roles. Nevertheless the Corps made a significant contribution to the forces that occupied and
disarmed Japan. Corps personnel served predominantly in field security and language related positions throughout
the most active years of the British Commonwealth Occupation Force's operations in Japan.
During the Korean Campaign a small number of Corps personnel served on the staff of the British Commonwealth Division. Sergeant Harris was awarded
the Military Medal for his work running agents behind the Chinese lines. Other personnel of the Corps served on
secondment to infantry battalions, for example a Sergeant Humphrey and Corporal Bollinger were seconded to the
Intelligence Section of the 3rd Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment in 1952.
In the Malayan Emergency and the Indonesian Confrontation campaigns, individuals served on staff positions with Commonwealth formations
or on secondment to the Malay Colonial Police. Other Corps personnel served with Commonwealth intelligence
units in Hong Kong and Singapore. A detachment of the 1st Division Intelligence Unit served in Malaysia/Singapore
for a short period in the early 1970's.
